MouseCraft Game Review :

Mousecraft is a charming, slick and challenging puzzler. An excellent mix of deep and casual play that allows you to tax your brain while on a commute – the video game equivalent of a sudoku or crossword.

The basic premise is the kind of thing you’d get if you mashed Chu Chu Rocket together with Lemmings – guiding three mice from their wheel to a cheesy prize while avoiding deadly hazards. These hazards come in six flavours: gravity, water, acid, evil robotic rats – they have a proper name but this is what happens when you don’t take detailed enough notes -, electric blocks, and explosions – which explode.
The visuals and music are also really smooth: the game looks great and the cartoony backgrounds are fully dynamic and bursting with character. The backgrounds and level skins change every twenty levels to avoid becoming dull (so with eighty levels you get four backgrounds), although it’s a little disappointing that these chunks provide a purely visual difference and have no influence on any of the mechanics or themes present in the levels themselves. The music reminded me a lot of the Worms franchise, which is absolutely ideal for this kind of game. It’s chirpy and tuneful without being distracting.

Schrödinger's machine is powered by mice movement, and there is no greater reason for the mice to move than showing them a big chunk of smelly cheese. While Schrödinger may not look like a very bright kitten, he placed a piece of cheese in every part of his machine, so every time a mouse reaches the cheese a button is being pressed and a part of the machine is being activated. Like every great scientist, Schrödinger does not care about money. In fact, he’s doing this all for sake of science. Unfortunately for him, the area of science he chose is pretty cheese consuming, and the amount of cheese needed for all that scientific testing is not cheap. After multiple attempts on making his project work, he eventually run dry and is forced to spend his all savings to buy the few last pieces of cheese. Placed sparingly, these last pieces of cheese could be Schrödinger’s last chance to see his invention come to life, but it’s only going to work if the mice can actually find their way. That’s where the player comes in, to help get Schrödinger’s invention running. To achieve that, every part of the machine must be functional. There are 80 of them, so mathematically speaking – players will have to guide at least 80 mice to the cheese, to complete the game and discover why the machine is so important to our crazy cat scientist.

Guacamelee! is a 2D action/exploration platformer about wrestling monsters, but in terms of gameplay structure, it takes cues from a variety of sources. Like in the Metroid series, you scour large labyrinthine zones seeking new techniques which often serve multiple purposes. A flying uppercut will not only help in combat but also work as a limited double jump to help you reach new areas. There is even a power-up that allows you to "Morph Ball" into a chicken to explore pipes and crevices.

Though there are several direct allusions to Metroid here (the Chozo statues are particularly blatant), the game actually has more in common with Cave Story. While the Metroid games are generally solitary affairs, Guacamelee! often punctuates successful battles and discovery of new areas with cutscenes that come alive with a variety of charming and memorable characters.

The story focuses on a regular man named Juan who sacrifices his life while attempting to save the local politician's daughter from being kidnapped by a well-dressed skeleton. As it turns out, this skeleton is a big-shot politician himself in the afterlife.    MMA is a sport with a lot more to it than even a bulk of its fans realize. What the layman sees is two people savagely beating on one another, and sure, there’s a certain base-level barbaric thrill to that. But anyone who pays closer attention knows that it’s all a lot more complex, especially when the fight goes to the ground. Even my favorite MMA games over the years have failed to make the ground element anything more interesting than a collection of button-mashing mini-games, but after a recent hands-on, EA Sports UFC looks like it’s bucking the trend.   The striking game is still very much in line with the conventions established by the very first UFC games: each face button controls a limb, and pressing a direction on the analog stick modifies that limb’s attacks in different ways.
  The trickiest part about the stand-up fight in any of these games is that, in keeping with the sport, any punch can be the one that ends the match. That can be thrilling when you watch a fight, but it’s usually maddening when you’re on the receiving end of it in a video game.   Fortunately, a good deal of simulation is going into when and why these flash knockouts happen. Your fighter’s current stamina, the state of the body part struck, and whether or not they’re recovering from throwing an attack of their own will all factor heavily into the equation. So a well-placed strike can definitely rock someone, but in theory, it will be a reward for fighting smart rather than winning the lottery.
  When you initiate one in UFC, a four-quadrant interface comes up, and the defending character can hold in a direction to try to escape in the corresponding way. The attacker needs to match what they do to temporarily halt their progress while looking for prompts to advance the submission with a specific input. If they succeed, any escape progress is reset, and they sink their hold in deeper.  This continues until the defender escapes or the attacker succeeds several times to complete the hold.
   It sounds complicated, but it’s actually quite simple in practice and it opens up the door for a lot of mind games and frantic reactions. Each of the 29 submission holds are animated over five stages of progress, and the commentary escalates with them nicely, effectively recreating the tension leading up to a tap-out in a real-life fight. Fighter attributes play a major role here too, so no matter how good you are personally, a dedicated striker will always be at a major disadvantage against a seasoned Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu expert. Suffice it to say, this is a lot more interesting than trying to mash your way to victory.   As a famous Gracie once said, the ground game is a sea, and while no video game can capture all the little ripples, UFC’s approximation of it is as thoughtful and intuitive of an attempt as I’ve seen. Hopefully the rest of it comes together just as well.

The two leave the next day and arrive at Henry’s place, where the protagonist finds out that Henry is disabled and cannot walk. The protagonist is then tasked of finding a radio for Henry and traverses through the deadly dust clouds and makes it to an old boat. After searching the boat and finding the radio, the protagonist makes it off and travels back to Henry.
